Hannah Goldsmith is a photographer based in Cambridge, graduating from the University of Brighton with a BA (Hons) degree in Photography in 2019.
Working solely in black and white, her work focuses on the textural qualities within sculptural forms. Her visits to Greece, including Athens, inspired a passion for Greek mythology and sculptures. She became immersed and wanted to explore the history and narratives behind these iconic legends. A specific interest in the history of the Parthenon and Greek culture then developed with visits to; the Acropolis Museum, Athens, Louvre, Paris, and the British Museum, London. Whilst there she made close inspections of the stone textures and quality of the carvings, striving to create photographs that convey the beauty of the sculptures.
Hannah went on to portray the narrative of the sculpture within her work, researching how they once would have stood and used digital techniques such as double exposure to convey this. She also provides an almost abstract view of sculptures, with close ups and lighting for enhancement of their history, age and journey.
